Spyro Reignited Trilogy Confirmed for Xbox One

There has never been a question if an updated Spyro The Dragon trilogy was coming out. That much has been known. The question has always been, at least for Xbox One players, "Are we going to get that?" or, perhaps, with the one-year PlayStation exclusivity deal of other former Sony classic Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, "Are we going to get that now?" Publisher Activision says yes: Spyro Reignited Trilogy is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at the same time.

The trilogy being reignited is, of course, made up of Spyro The Dragon, Spyro: Ripto's Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Between the three, that's more than 100 levels of what Activision promises will be "HD graphical glory." Players can expect "improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics for added flavor in this one-of-a-kind adventure."

The trilogy is being worked on by none other than Toys for Bob, who worked on the Skylanders series. The choice is rather fitting since Skylanders was essentially branded around Spyro, although Toys for Bob did not make the first game, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

Toys for Bob Design Director Toby Schadt says that "20 years is a long time, but as we’ve seen around the gaming community, it’s not long enough to dampen the intense passion that fans have for this series of games." The development team is just as passionate about preserving the legacy of the classic series.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy launches for Xbox One on September 21st.
