At this weekend's Tokyo Sega FES 2018, the publisher announced something that has been long awaited by fans across the world: Shenmue
and Shenmue II
for current-gen platforms. The two games will be packaged together. Although the titles will be somewhat modernized, SEGA also emphasized that the releases are not full-fledged remasters.
A few of the features include English and Japanese voice-overs, the ability to choose between modern and classic controls, and scalable screen resolution.Shenmue
launched for the SEGA Dreamcast in 1999, with the sequel releasing in 2001. Shenmue II
was later ported to the original Xbox console in 2002, giving Shenmue
a special place in many Xbox fans' hearts and exposing them to the series. Shenmue III
was crowdfunded in 2015 to the tune of $6 million, but is only in development for PC and PS4.Shenmue I & II
are due out on Xbox One in 2018.
