If you're reading this shortly after it is published, you're not late for a very important date. You're right on time! It's the first of the month which means it's time for a new game to take the spotlight as part of TA Playlist. As it won the poll just a few days ago the focus is now on American McGee's Alice: Madness Returns all throughout May.
The game clocks in at around 14 hours for a single story playthrough and takes about 25 hours for the full completion. It released on Xbox 360 (and is backward compatible, of course) in 2011 from Spicy Horse and remains to this day the only console release the McGee-led studio produced before they closed their doors in 2016. When it hit stores it was met with decent reviews, averaging a 70 on Metacritic. It's also the sequel to 2000's American McGee's Alice which comes packed in with the sequel whether you own it digitally or physically, so those wanting the full history lesson can find it quite easily.
All month long we'll be taking community feedback, sharing game clips, and discussing the macabre, Grimm-inspired aesthetic and plot in the Playlist Hub. You're invited to join in starting today and going until the end of May.
A new game also means a podcast on the previous game is on the way. We recorded our Sea of Thieves episode over the weekend (with a special guest!) and it should be coming through the pipeline in a matter of days. Come join us in the wondrous world of Alice!
