Beyond Good and Evil 2 Shows Staff Combat and Ship Manoeuvres

By Rebecca Smith,
Nearly a year ago, Beyond Good and Evil 2 was revealed to the world at E3 with a cinematic trailer that was later broken down in detail by the game's Creative Director Michael Ancel. Since then, we've had artwork, a look at the development team, in-game demos, and the first developer diary that looked at why you'll need a crew in the game. The second developer diary now looks at staff combat and ship manoeuvres, interspersed with gameplay.

The video shows how players can travel around the world using jetpacks and ships. Despite travelling at high speeds, groups of players will be able to stay together by forming an armada. We also get a glimpse at a different aspect of the game: melee combat. Protagonist Shani demonstrates some of her impressive combat moves with her staff.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 will take place in a new solar system, System 3, before the events of the first game. Private enterprises fight over resources and power, but you're more concerned with rising from the ranks of an ordinary pirate to becoming a legendary captain. There's no release window for when you'll get a chance to do this, with the game just pencilled in to release in the future on unconfirmed platforms.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Beyond Good and Evil 2 achievements.
