The State of TA Part 2

It’s that time again (well, okay, technically we are a month overdue, but it’s not our fault we admin are always busy, we never get any time to ourselves, never get to play games, enjoy the site, spend time with loved ones, sleep, all we do is work work work and do we get any thanks for it, do we DO WE!)....ermmm…I think I’ll start again.

It’s that time again when your friendly admin team releases our monthly round up of events and improvements to site, and for those fortunate individuals who missed my last article here it is again - The State Of TA Part 1 - you don’t get off that lightly!

An awful lot has happened since then, so I’ll start with what I consider to be the biggest news, our appearance on page 92 of one of the biggest selling Xbox magazines in the world complete with a photo of Rich wearing what appear to be braces (Suspenders to our American friends), whilst this hasn’t produced a “Joystiq Tuesday” effect it has boosted our numbers quite nicely as we approach 25,000 at an ever increasing rate.

Unfortunately that good news has caused a few problems (C'est la vie), mainly in the form of a few server crashes, but we hope that with the optimization that has been done recently that these will become a thing of the past! However, I think that a second server is becoming something of an inevitability. If anyone wishes to donate £2,000 I’ll personally see to it you get a special “Too Much Money” badge (probably a wad of cash on fire or something cool like that).

Speaking of badges, a couple of new ones were introduced this month, the moderator badge as modelled by Crimson Drifter, Elite Hero and newest of all Randomnutta . Please respect the moderators as you wouldn’t want to get on my bad side, I’ve been told I have a temper smile. The other new one is the referral badge, which is kind of like a pyramid scheme in badge format, it’s great!

Alas not many new features have been introduced this month as it’s been mainly optimization and bug fixing (although non donators will now notice we have adverts), the standout exception being the fully working (although still in early development) chat page (TrueAchievements Chat ) - the core of which was worryingly created in only 45 minutes by an intoxicated TA. I say worryingly as I first asked for a chat feature on the 10th October 08 (Chat? ) and it went ignored for months and months, yet all it took him was a few drinks and a time challenge! I think for the sake of our users he needs to get drunk more often, just think how much better the site could be! That’s more than could be said for his liver however laugh.

I’d like to do a post of the month but I haven’t been checking the boards as much recently, so I’ll pick out a few honourable mentions, starting with this: Boosting And Matchmaking Forum, whoever set that up must have some sort of higher level intelligence smile. It's a great idea and I’ve already used it several times and it’s a great way of getting achievements. SkillfulMmd and his impressive collection of 360 hardware post your collections here . Craziest thread is Why don't zombies eat themselves by http://www.trueachievements.com/Alexisonline.htm and finally best idea for a thread belongs to Coconut333 for One Game for the rest of your LIFE?.

Because it's just gone easter and because zigs00 asked so nicely last time, here are a couple of cute bunny pics just for you, personally the third is my favorite, they just don't make them like that anymore laugh

I’ve hope everyone’s had a great Easter, but sadly I’m back at work now so I should start really doing some before I get sacked (at least then I’d have no excuse for missing a month of doing this, silver lining and all that)

Thanks for reading,

Clever Jake
