Come this June, The Pinball Arcade will have more than 60 purchasable tables delisted. The delistings stem from Williams and Bally choosing not to renew their license with Pinball Arcade developer FarSight Studios. The removals will likely have a big impact on the game's achievement list.
FarSight has already created an FAQ that lets players know a few things. First, those who own delisted tables will still be able to access them, as is standard with delistings, and FarSight will still support these tables should bugs or other issues arise. Second, the contract does not allow for discounts on the tables before they conclude their run, so the tables' current prices are final and will not be reduced.
Unfortunately, despite their FAQ, FarSight did not address if the Xbox One version's achievements requiring delisted tables will be adjusted. Assuming the achievements are not changed, the removals will have implications for every single one of The Pinball Arcade's ten achievements. Simply put, with no changes to the requirements of the achievement from the developer, every single achievement will be discontinued for anyone who does not already own the required content. The Pinball Arcade (Xbox 360) had previously been delisted with all DLC removed from the store, so nothing changes for that already defunct version.
The Pinball Arcade's achievement list has always been a bit misleading, so much that we have a disclaimer on its page that reads, "This title is free, but all of the achievements require the purchase of additional pinball tables." The tables needed for the achievements, which are all from Seasons 1 and 2, unfortunately include Williams and Bally tables. The full list of tables to be delisted is in the spoiler tags below due to its size (FarSight emphasizes that the list is "in no particular order"). Tables needed for achievements have been bolded, followed by the achievement — or achievements — in question. The other tables are not required for any achievements, but will be delisted at the same time as the others, and anyone interested in them should purchase them before the delist date.
The list of Williams and Bally tables will be delisted as of June 30th, 2018.
