Blizzard Releases Pink Mercy Skin To Raise Money For Breast Cancer Research

By Andy Mills,
Blizzard Entertainment has announced a very special limited-time event for their massively popular hero shooter Overwatch. The team have released a new pink skin for the game's instantly recognisable healer Mercy to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

In the latest developer update, Jeff Kaplan walks us through the event, including a look at the new Mercy skin as well as why the cause is important to the Overwatch team, not that an explanation is really necessary for wanting to beat cancer.

In addition to the new skin, Overwatch will have a similarly themed Mercy T-shirt. Designed by community artist VICKISIGH and available in both men's and women's sizes, the T-shirt will also raise money for the BCRF. Finally, to simply raise awareness, the team have partnered with Twitch. As well as a few new global emotes to be used on the website's chat, in-game rewards like player icons and sprays can be earned by watching select streamers during the event, with any donations made to those streamers during the event also going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The event started on May 8th and will be running through May 21st. The Pink Mercy Skin will cost $15 or your regional equivalent, with Blizzard promising 100% of all proceeds they receive going straight to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
