Weekend Announcements May 11-13th: DYSTOA, Iron Danger & Knights of Pen & Paper

By Rebecca Smith, 5 months ago
In comparison to the last few weekends, this one was quiet. Maybe it's because we're building up to E3, or maybe it's for some other reason, but we only have three new titles for you today. All three are confirmed for Xbox. The list is below; see if there's something that attracts your attention.

DYSTOA

ONEVISION's "surreal, poetic, and minimalistic first-person exploration game" recently hit its funding target on Kickstarter to bring it to Xbox One later this year. Players are all alone in a post-apocalyptic world that's fading away into unknown realms. As you explore, you'll discover secrets, surreal events and forgotten locations that may be from another world. It's up to you to discover the truth.

Iron Danger

Action Squad Studios' debut console title is a "genre-blending" tactical RPG where players take simultaneous turns, and time rewinding mechanics add a bit of spice to proceedings. Inspired by Nordic mythos, as well as Kalevala and Finnish folklore, players assume the role of Kipuna, a village girl with a power that allows her to control time and death. Together with a group of heroes, she's drawn into a war between the Northlanders, led by the Witch Queen, and the city of Kalevala, currently ruled by an immortal who has renounced the gods. The main focus of the game is on story, combat, and puzzles, rather than grinding character progress. You can try it for yourself when it arrives on Xbox One in the future.

Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Deluxier Edition

The PlayStation 4 version of this title was announced properly. The Xbox One version appeared through its achievement list. The "lighthearted" RPG puts players in control of a group of gamers who are playing their characters in a tabletop RPG, as well as the dungeon master. Players can pick the race, class and skills of their characters, as well as the actual role-player. Then it's up to the dungeon master to dictate the story, as the gamers go on an adventure through the world. As they sit at the table, the room changes around them to match the places and enemies they'll encounter. You won't have long to try this for yourself as the title releases on Xbox One on May 30th.
