We Happy Few Refused Classification In Australia By Andy Mills, 23 May 2018 FollowtopicsWe Happy FewGearbox PublishingXbox Game PassXbox Cloud GamingID@XboxStealthAndy Mills Compulsion Games, the Canadian developer of Contrast, has run into a spot of bother down under with their next title We Happy Few. The upcoming survival game has been refused classification by the Australian Classification Board, effectively banning the title in Australia for the moment. According to the classification board’s rating, which can be viewed here, We Happy Few has been refused classification as it fell afoul of article 1. (a) of the country's National Classification Code, Computer Games Table. This is for computer games that "depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified". For their part, Compulsion Games admits that the game does deal with difficult subjects, including addiction, mental health and drug abuse, but maintains that they've treated the subject matter appropriately and that they are proud of what they created. Furthermore, they have appealed this initial decision and intend to discuss any and all issues with the Australian Classification Board in the hope the developer can change the Board's mind.Hopefully, everything is sorted out and We Happy Few comes out worldwide — including Australia — this summer. If worse comes to worst and the game remains banned in Australia, however, the studio has promised to work directly with affected Kickstarter backers. We've got the full list of We Happy Few achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.More We Happy Few stories: Xbox Game Pass adds two more games today Xbox Game Pass adds Resident Evil 2 and seven more games in January Game Pass loses We Happy Few later this week Xbox Game Studios Spotlight: Compulsion Games We Happy Few dev Compulsion Games working on third-person single player game Game PreviewUpcoming ReleaseXbox OneID@Xbox Written by Andy MillsJust one of the fine Newshounds on TrueAchievements.
