Overwatch Second Anniversary Event Now Running By Rebecca Smith, 23 May 2018 FollowtopicsOverwatch: Origins EditionBlizzard EntertainmentLocal MultiplayerOnline MultiplayerXbox One X EnhancedFirst Person ShooterRebecca Smith Two years ago, Overwatch was unleashed upon gamers. The popular title is still going strong and developer Blizzard is celebrating with their latest game event. The Anniversary event is running right now and offers a new Deathmatch map and over 190 anniversary items, including new Legendary skins, until the event ends on June 11th.Petra is the new Deathmatch map, and we'd already introduced you to it in the form of a trailer earlier this week. Now we have some screenshots for you too. Meanwhile, Deathmatch also gets a new competitive mode with placement matches, skill rating tiers, and leaderboards. Not only does the Anniversary event bring back cosmetic items from previous seasonal events, it adds over 60 new items such as dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte. There are also eight new Legendary skins and three new Epic skins, some of which can be seen below:SherlockShieldmaidenStealthFormalBuccaneerForest SpiritMagicianCybjörnAs can be expected, there are new Anniversary Loot Boxes to purchase. Each is guaranteed to have at least one of the 190+ event items as well as loot from previous seasonal events. If you purchase a 50 Anniversary Loot Box bundle, you'll get a bonus Legendary Anniversary Loot Box. Anybody who logs in to the game during the anniversary period will receive a complimentary Legendary Anniversary Loot Box anyway. Finally, while the event does not appear to bring any new achievements with it (I can hear the sighs of relief from here), it does bring back past seasonal brawls that are available to play in the Arcade. These include Retribution, Summer Games, Halloween Terror, Winter Wonderland, and Uprising. The brawl of the day will rotate daily, and as some of our members have found out, this means that the respective achievements for these events will be live while the brawl is playable. Take a look at the event in action in the launch trailer. The Anniversary event is available now and runs until June 11th.We've got the full list of Overwatch 2 achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.More Overwatch 2 stories: Overwatch League is no more as Activision Blizzard heads in "new direction" The best free Xbox games (January 2024) Blizzard is targeting Overwatch 2 cheaters and their accomplices Overwatch 2 devs unfazed by decline in player engagement Blizzard announces three-part Overwatch mini-series starting this week Xbox LIVE EventVideoXbox One X EnhancedScreenshotsXbox One Written by Rebecca SmithRebecca is the Newshound Manager at TrueGaming Network.
