Activision and ABC Entertainment Group announced today that they are releasing a game based on the Wipeout television program. The title, Wipeout In the Zone, will come out on the Xbox 360 and will take full advantage of the Kinect.

In case you're not familiar, Wipeout is a show which pits contestants against one another as they attempt to complete an obstacle course. These obstacles often involve running, jumping, dodging, and ducking over a variety of objects, so the Kinect appears to be a natural fit for a game adaptation of the show.

Wipeout in the Zone will feature over thirty obstacles which players will attempt to tackle. The show's hosts, John Anderson, John Henson and co-host Jill Wagner, are all lending their talents to the game to provide you with commentary as you attempt leaping over pools of water or jumping over the "Smack Wall Sweeper".

David Goldberg, Chairman of Endemol North America, shared his thoughts as to the upcoming title.

Not only is this new Wipeout game filled with even more humor, spills and thrills, but now the entire family can play interactively with the new full motions capabilities. This game introduces a new level of excitement for Wipeout fans of all ages to play.
Wipeout In The Zone will be available this summer in conjunction with the premier of Wipeout's summer season on ABC.
