Two Multiplayer Modes Detailed for Skull & Bones

By Ethan Anderson,
Not much has been seen of Skull & Bones since its reveal at last year's E3. This year, Ubisoft has dropped two new videos for the game. One of the trailers is cinematic while the other is gameplay-focused.

Skull & Bones takes players to the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy when pirates ruled the seas, as you can see in the cinematic trailer above. In the second trailer, gameplay from the game's PvPvE mode Hunting Grounds is shown. Hunting Grounds sets players loose on the high seas, and they are able to hunt merchant ships, sink enemy vessels, and patrol trade routes. As you gain notoriety, you will attract the attention of powerful empires. You will be able to work with other players, of course, but when riches are on the line, even friends can become enemies.

Players who would rather claim all the glory for themselves can avoid PvE elements altogether and play Skull & Bones' dedicated PvP mode, Disputed Waters. In Disputed Waters, you and four other players will be pitted against a rival pirate gang. The goal of this mode is to sink opponents' ships and make off with the treasure before the pirate hunters arrive.

Whether you play PvP or PvE, ship customisation is a key feature in the game. You will be able to customise "nearly every visual aspect" of your ship in order to give it a unique feel. This includes sails, figureheads, wheels, and even crew members.

Skull & Bones is set to launch sometime in 2019. Will you be loyal to your pirate gang, or turn and take the treasures for yourself?

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Skull & Bones achievements.
