Insane Robots Hacks Its Way Into July

By Rebecca Smith,
Insane Robots was revealed two years ago at EGX and the title has been pootling away in the background ever since. Those two years of effort will come to fruition next month when the game is finally released on Xbox One as part of the ID@Xbox program. To prepare players for the game's arrival, developer Playniac has released a brief glimpse at gameplay, as well as a series of screenshots.

At its heart, Insane Robots is a card battling strategy game that doesn't have "expensive card expansions, time-consuming customization, farming, [or] an ever-rising bar that excludes players who don’t purchase more cards." In fact, the deck only contains 22 different cards, so it will never be able to be called a collectible card game. Across the 15+ hours of the single player campaign, players will be in charge of the robot rebellion aiming to overthrow the robot despot The Kernel as they battle through procedurally-generated survival arenas. If single-player isn't your thing, there will also be local and online multiplayer battles for two players. Take a look at the short snippets of gameplay below to see what you can expect.

Insane Robots will be available for US$15.99 / €15.99 on July 13th. There's also a Deluxe Edition that will include the game's Season Pass for US$23.09 / €23.09. The Season Pass will include six DLCs to be released in the future.
