Japan Benefit Sales Round-Up

By Michelle Balsan, 5 years ago
As you've no doubt seen throughout the week, several companies and retailers are pitching in and selling various games and game related items to aid the relief efforts in Japan. In an effort to make this information easier for you to find should you either want to donate or simply spread the word, we are going to consolidate all such benefits into a single post.

First, we have the http://www.trueachievements.com/n3307/aksys-japan-benef....htm. Aksys is selling many titles across various platforms through March 24th and 100% of the proceeds will go to Japan relief efforts. Check out the list of available titles here

Next, http://www.trueachievements.com/ABouncingSoul.htm brought our attention to the http://www.trueachievements.com/n3314/playasiacom-japan....htm. Play-Asia.com is donating a portion of their game sales to Japan, but the amount is dependent on what game or item you purchase. Check out the full list of available deals here. No end date was announced, but the site says collections through March, so you have at least till the end of the month to help out through Play-Asia.com.

http://www.trueachievements.com/Knucklehead923.htm has brought to our attention PlayForJapan. This site is collecting rare and autographed items from people within the game industry to auction off for Japan relief.

http://www.trueachievements.com/FallenFlame.htm alerted us to the sale of charity wristbands at Bungie.net. All proceeds from the sale of these wristbands will be donated to the Red Cross. In addition to this, all profits from the Bungie store will be donated to the relief efforts until April 30th.

As a final sidenote, some of the giants in the games industry have also been making donations. Square Enix has donated 100 million yen and will be hosting further donation programs. Namco Bandai has also donated 100 million yen. Nintendo has donated 300 million yen, as has Sony who, in addition to the cash donation, has also donated 30,000 radios to aid the rescue efforts. Microsoft has donated $100,000, and with the current conversion rates, this works out at approximately 8.1 million yen.

If you should see any other Japan Benefit Sales, please post in the comments here or submit it via the http://www.trueachievements.com/suggestnews.aspx link.

When not contributing to gaming websites, she makes her living as a mild-mannered librarian. She can be compelled to play just about anything if there's a co-op component, and has been playing games with friends and siblings since the Atari 2600. As it's reportedly healthy to have hobbies outside of gaming, she also roots for some of the most difficult sporting franchises to root for, the New York Mets and New York Jets, but offsets that by rooting for the New Jersey Devils. She's also seen pretty much none of the movies you have, but she's working on that.
