The Darwin Project Goes Free-To-Play This July

By Andy Mills,
After spending a few months in Xbox Game Preview, Darwin Project is set to release on Xbox One with quite a change in the offing. Originally — and currently — costing money to play in Game Preview, Canadian developer Scavengers Studio have announced that the Xbox One version of the game will be shifting to a free-to-play model this July, in line with the battle royale's PC version.

The Darwin Project

Players who have bought the game (or do so before June 22nd) will receive a Founder's Pack. The pack will contain a variety of cosmetics — some of which are exclusive to Founder's Pack owners, like the men's and women's ice hockey inspired fare — as well as ten fan gifts that will provide even more items. For those that have purchased the title and are unhappy with the shift to free-to-play, Scavengers Studio has promised a refund if they contact Xbox Support.

The Darwin Project Founders Pack

The Darwin Project shifts to free-to-play on July 4th. Those who want to receive the Founder's Pack can receive it by purchasing the game before tomorrow, June 22nd.
