New Xbox Releases: Week Beginning July 16th, 2018

By Rebecca Smith, 3 months ago
This week is definitely quieter than last week, but don't let that fool you — we're still getting 11 new Xbox One titles. At retail, there's the latest Adventure Time title, while digitally there's a reboot of the Tempest franchise and the latest ACA NEOGEO title. The remaining eight titles arrive courtesy of ID@Xbox, and these include thwarting alien invasions, bridging a forest, investigating a mythical world based on finno-ugric culture, a battle against severe cold, and one of the most bizarre cycling races I've ever seen. For more information on each title, check out the list below, and scroll to the bottom for prices and download links:

Guts and Glory

Release date: July 19th
Guts and Glory is about ordinary people competing in extraordinary challenges of life and death! Players select from a wide variety of vehicles, including realistic bicycles, poorly built cars, and rocket-powered homemade contraptions. They’ll race to the finish line dodging all sorts of hazards, including sawblade windmills, giant wrecking balls, medieval cannons and crazy turrets.

Each vehicle is completely physics-driven, with 100% ragdoll riders, realtime dismemberment, and vehicle damage. This means that every turn, every crash, and every death is unique—and often results in hilarious scenarios! Severed limbs spray blood all over nearby characters and the environment as you struggle to hang on and reach the finish line. Vehicles get dented, smashed and lose parts. Wheels can be popped or just knocked off completely. Determined players on tough tracks will find themselves hobbling across the finish line bloodied, missing limbs, stuck full of arrows, on a smashed vehicle only one hit away from being incapacitated!

Nidhogg 2

Release date: July 18th
The rules are simple. Reach the other side and kill anyone that stands in your way. Deftly parry and rend their throats, riddle their bowels with arrows, or squish their brains between your toes. The Wurm cares not for chivalry.

Sequel to the indie hit of 2014, Nidhogg 2 builds upon the award-winning gameplay of its predecessor with new weapons to wield and levels to master, head-to-toe character customization, and the captivatingly grotesque art of Toby Dixon.

And, with music from artists including Mux Mool, Baths, Doseone, Osborne, and Daedelus, Nidhogg 2 has a soundtrack so good that even the menu screens are awesome.

The Long Reach

Release date: July 18th
The Long Reach is an adventure game filled with colorful characters, puzzles, and a shock of discovery. Wait, weren't we supposed to say, “joy of discovery”? That can’t be right.

The Long Reach takes place in New Hampshire, in the fictional town of Baervox. The game draws its inspiration from Lone Survivor and The Cave and all the classical adventures (except that The Long Reach is set in the present day). You don't play in a post-apocalyptic world or explore a fairy-filled fantasy world. You’re in the thick of it, just around the corner from the place where you buy your groceries.
