Codemasters has announced that F1 2011, the sequel to the fastest-selling Formula One game of all time, is on track for release worldwide on September 23rd, 2011.

The latest iteration looks to build on the success of its predecessor, F1 2010, by encouraging players to once again become immersed in the glitz and glamour of the racing driver lifestyle. The newest title will feature all of the official drivers, teams and circuits from this year's FIA Formula One World Championships. Amongst those circuits are the debut of the new Jaypee International Race Circuit, home of the augural Indian Grand Prix, as well as the long-awaited return of the infamous Nürburgring to the F1 calendar.

In addition to including the new circuits, the developer/publisher has stated that F1 2011 will feature "wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements on and off track and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components".

The chances are that September feels a lifetime away when you're anticipating your next fix of F1 action. It appears that Codemasters agree; so much so that the developer has set up a competition to allow a lucky few players to try the game prior to release. Here's the details:

...Codemasters is offering gamers the chance to be amongst the first in the world to play F1 2011 ahead of its release and star in future Development Diary videos. To enter the competition, fans are invited to ask a question about the game on a video uploaded to YouTube.

The most interesting and creative video entries, featuring the best questions as judged by the development team, will be invited to Codemasters Birmingham to go hands on with the game, meet the team and ask their questions face-to-face in May. The day will be filmed and released as [a] first look video. Winners unable to attend will also have the chance to be featured in forthcoming F1 2011 trailers via pre-recorded questions played out to the development team.
Head over to the franchise's Facebook page for full terms and conditions, as well as the all important instructions on how to enter the competition. You never know, you may just reach the top step of the podium!

F1 2011 is already available for pre-order, in both Xbox 360 and Games for Windows Live formats.
