It's been quite the journey for Hinterland Studio and their survival game The Long Dark
. Originally Kickstarted to the tune of CA$ 256,217 back in 2013, the Canadian studio initially released the title into Steam's Early Access program in 2014. The game then made its way to the Xbox Game Preview program in 2015, before finally releasing fully in August of last year. Now, nearly five years on from the original Kickstarter campaign, the game will be available in retail stores, starting next month.
In addition to the game itself, the physical edition will also come with a couple of goodies: the game's soundtrack — a code for the digital version, somewhat ironically — composed by Sascha Dikiciyan and Cris Velasco, as well as a physical Field Journal. This journal will include a map of Great Bear Island, as well as plenty of space to write down your day-to-day activities, whether from The Long Dark
or anything else.
The Long Dark You're welcome to try but we're going to guess that code doesn't actually work
will be available in stores on September 4th in North America, and September 7th in Europe and other regions.
