Update: Sign-up for this program is already full. Those who put their name in should know if they're picked within two weeks. Good luck to all who entered!

Major Nelson announced on his blog today that Microsoft is running an Xbox 360 Update Preview Program and that sign-ups for the Program are currently underway.

The purpose of the preview is to help Microsoft prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format. If you are selected for the Program, you will receive a copy of Halo: Reach as well as other possible rewards.

The Major also listed a couple of points to keep in mind with regards to the program.

* We’re looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of making it in are good.
* This opportunity is open to Xbox LIVE Members in US region only.
* To avoid any problems, read the survey carefully and double check all the information you provide.
* While both Xbox LIVE Gold and Silver members can sign up, priority will be given to Gold members in the selection process.
* Due to disc distribution limitations, this beta will be limited to residents of the United States only.
You can sign up for the program here. Major Nelson has stated that he will update his blog once the program fills up, so keep an eye over there to see if you still have a chance of getting in.
