Koch Media, who was acquired by THQ Nordic earlier this year, has made a couple of acquisitions of their own. The German media company has announced that they have become owners of the TimeSplitters series and Second Sight, with future games — on which they've promised more information in due course — to be published by Deep Silver.
Both series were created by Free Radical Design, with the TimeSplitters series going on to have three titles in the early-mid 00s. The first person shooter's humour mixed with a variety of content garnered a sizeable and passionate fanbase, including plenty at Koch Media as the company's CEO Klemens Kundratitz stated:
We are hugely excited to have acquired TimeSplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the TimeSplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill today's gaming audience. That's not to say there's not a lot of love for Second Sight either, with the game's rather unique premise also putting it firmly in cult classic status.
With the track record of parent company THQ Nordic, fans can, at the very least, probably expect some sort of re-release of the titles — probably with a great/horrible pun in the title. Throw in that most of the people at Free Radical ended up Dambuster Studios, who just so happens to be owned by Deep Silver, and maybe the future is perfect for both these properties after all?
