Players last took part in a war on the Usean continent back in Ace Combat 4. Now, 17 years later, players once again return to the area in ACE COMBAT 7: Skies Unknown as they are thrown into the second Usean Continental War. The latest screenshots and trailer to come out of Gamescom show players exactly what they can expect to face, while publisher Bandai Namco also brings news of a branded flight stick that players will be able to pick up alongside the game.
After an attack from an army of unmanned jets, the Kingdom of Erusea has declared war on the Osean Foundation. The latter needs all the help it can get. As its name might suggest, the Penitentiary Unit is a military force where all of its members are former criminals. Considered to be more disposable than the fully-trained military forces, this unit is sent into to skies to defend the continent. Take a look at the trailer to get some idea of how that's going to pan out.
Bandai Namco also announced two new Ace Combat branded flight sticks that will be compatible with the game. While one is exclusive to PlayStation 4, Thrustmaster's T.Flight Hotas 4 ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN Edition will be available for the Xbox One and can be used in both third person and first person views. The joystick will also be compatible "with all of the other games for which earlier versions of the joystick are also compatible".
Ace Combat 7 will be released on January 18th, 2019. Although they didn't specify a release window, we assume the flight stick will be releasing around the same time.
