BloodRayne: Betrayal Coming to XBLA

Rayne is returning as the "beautiful yet lethal dhampir anti-heroine" in the latest instalment of Majesco's vampire game franchise BloodRayne. BloodRayne: Betrayal will be the first game in the franchise to arrive on this generation of consoles, and development duties have been handed to WayForward, better known for titles such as A Boy and His Blob and Contra 4. Just like the game they are developing, this will be WayForward's first venture onto the Xbox 360 too.

BloodRayne: Betrayal is a 2D side-scrolling hack and slash game complete with plenty of bloodshed. Rayne, who is part-vampire, part-human, is gifted with extraordinary strength, speed and agility, but like all vampires, is cursed with a thirst for blood and is intolerant to sunlight.

As an agent for the vampire-hunting Brimstone Society, Rayne has to team up with a currently anonymous friend to bring a halt to an evil vampire massacre. Players will meet new characters and will have to solve environmental puzzles in order to progress. However, an arsenal of lethal weapons, including Rayne's "signature arm blades", will be at your disposal.

Majesco has also released a blink-and-you'll-miss-it teaser trailer:

BloodRayne: Betrayal is due to be released on XBLA in summer 2011. A price is yet to be confirmed.
