MLB 2K11 Perfect Game Contest Launches Tomorrow

By Rebecca Smith, 7 years ago
2K Sports' 'Perfect Game Challenge' will be returning tomorrow, and with it the chance to win $1 million. As with last year's competition, players will have to be the first person to pitch a perfect game on Major League Baseball 2K11 if they want to win the prize money.

The competition begins at 12:00 EST on April 1st, 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 EST on September 28th, 2011. Players must be over 13 years of age, and must live in the US. Unfortunately, due to legal restrictions, residents of Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota and Vermont will not be able to enter the competition.

This tutorial demonstrates how to submit your entry:

For those of you who can't view the trailer, I'll try and summarize the rules for you. You must pitch your perfect game on an Xbox LIVE account of which you are the registered account holder. Players who are under 18 years of age (19 in Nebraska and Alabama, 21 in Mississippi) must include a parental consent form, found at the contest page.

The game must be played in the MLB 2K11 Contest mode, which is found in the MLB Today mode. The MLB 2K11 Contest mode will not launch until the contest begins, so there's no point in looking for it yet!

Players must use only one pitcher to complete their perfect game, and win the game without letting any of the opposing players reach base. If an opposing player reaches a base through a hit, a walk, an error, or getting hit by a pitch, the game is no longer perfect. Pitcher substitutions, coach visits to the mound, pausing the game, and gaps of 60 seconds or more between pitches will all result in entries being disqualified.

Players must provide a video of themselves whilst playing the game. There must be five seconds of blank screen at the start of the video, followed by the boot-up and login sequence of your Xbox 360. The buttons and icons must be clearly legible. Any breaks, edits or obstruction of the TV will also result in entries being disqualified.

Players who pitch a perfect game will get a verification code on their screen at the end of the game. You must not turn your console off or stop the recording whilst this code is on the screen. This code must be entered into the submission page, accessible from the contest page; the time and date stamp of this submission will be used to determine the player who pitched the first perfect game.

Once the submission form has been filled out, you must print out two copies - one for yourself and the other to be sent with the video of your game. The video must be delivered on a DVD or DVD-ROM disc. The film must be a single file in any of these eight formats:
• MPEG-2
• MPEG-4

Entries must be sent, using an overnight carrier, to this address within seven days of entering the verification code online:
