Vintage Meets New in Streets of Rage 4 Announcement

By Kelly Packard, 1 month ago
When series lie dormant for decades, the prospect of a sequel goes out of mind entirely. Gamers were surprised by an announcement for Streets of Rage 4, a new entry in SEGA's classic beat-'em-up series Streets of Rage, which, outside of ports, hasn't been revisited since 1994.

The fourth installment came together from a trio of studios: publisher Dotemu, developer Guard Crush Games and developer Lizardcube, who will provide Streets' hand-drawn visuals, as they did for Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. The gameplay "builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem."

Those worried about the inclusion of poultry need not be concerned: the press release assured fans Streets of Rage 4 has plenty of "braised chicken served on a pristine plate."

Streets of Rage 4 is not confirmed for any platforms at the time of writing and does not yet have a release date.
