Capcom is one of the developers constantly tapping into gamers' nostalgia, whether it be through a remake of Resident Evil 2
or the Devil May Cry HD Collection
. This time around, the publisher is going for a re-release of Onimusha: Warlords
, the 2001 PlayStation 2 classic that was later brought to the original Xbox as Genma Onimusha
followed samurai Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede on their quest to save Princess Yuki from "mysterious demons who have invaded Inabayama Castle." The plot only thickened from there (of course, it's a Capcom game).
The updated version will have HD graphics, new voice acting and music, new display options including widescreen support, and analog stick support, which was not available in the original version. Players can still use the original d-pad controls if they choose. Another change is that Onimusha
's easy mode difficulty is now available from the start instead of needing to be unlocked, which Capcom says "makes it easier for both newcomers and those who haven't played Onimusha: Warlords
for a while to dive into this world right away."Onimusha: Warlords
will release for Xbox One on January 15th, 2019 for US$19.99. Of course, Onimusha: Warlords
was the first entry in a series — does this mean we'll be getting the rest too?
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Onimusha: Warlords achievements.
