Gwent Full Release and Standalone RPG Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Dated

The end of 2018 has a lot in store from developer CD Projekt. The studio will launch Gwent: The Witcher Card Game out of beta, as well as release Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, a standalone, single-player RPG that was originally supposed to be content for Gwent.

Gwent's official release is in conjunction with the Homecoming update, which was announced in April and is described by CD Projekt as "the biggest update in the game's history." Homecoming will introduce "a complete rework of the game’s board into a fully three-dimensional battlefield featuring two distinct rows, a redesign of the game’s visuals now in sync with the dark and gritty feel of the world of The Witcher, a new deck building experience, as well as new card mechanics."

Thronebreaker, which gamers will remember was first announced as a story campaign for Gwent, evolved into a single-player RPG "that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics." The game follows Meve, a queen and war hero of the Northern Realms. Thronebreaker allows players to "explore new and never-before-seen parts of The Witcher world [and] embark on thought-provoking quests featuring rich, multidimensional characters."
