Is Max Payne Coming to Backwards Compatibility Today?

By Rebecca Smith, 7 months ago
Developer Remedy is teasing a big announcement for later today. A mysterious tweet shows both Max Payne games and a magazine with Control on the cover shoved into a backpack, and we're having a lot of fun trying to work out what it means.

The obvious conclusion would be that Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne will be coming to Xbox Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One later today. Both of the games have been available on Xbox 360 as Xbox Originals since 2009, and they can be downloaded through the buttons below. Credibility has been added to this theory with the appearance of these games in the Microsoft Store in several new regions since the teaser tweet yesterday. Those of you wondering why Max Payne 3 isn't in the picture despite not being a Backwards Compatibility title either is because that title was developed by Rockstar and not Remedy.

Other more outlandish theories include the Max Payne games being remastered in HD, or being included as a pre-order bonus for Control. There is also the hope of a completely new Max Payne game if Remedy has managed to wrestle the IP from Rockstar. What do you think?
