Continuing a partnership that began with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
in 2012, Warner Bros. has teamed up again with CD Projekt Red to physically distribute Cyberpunk 2077
in North America. In addition to distribution, the company will also help to promote the title there but that will be where their duties begin and end, meaning the only effect this should have on players is seeing the famous "WB" logo on the box. There's no word so far on whether Bandai Namco — who similarly helped with distribution of The Witcher 2
and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
in Europe — will be returning or whether CD Projekt is now large enough within their home continent to tackle those issues themselves.
With a successful relationship so far, both Warner Bros. and CD Projekt Red are naturally happy to keep it going. Michal Nowakowski, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Member of the Board at CD Projekt Red, had this to say about the continuing relationship:
We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful, so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence. Cyberpunk 2077 is our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things we can achieve together.
Kevin Kebodeaux, the Senior Vice President of Sales in the Americas at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, was similarly enthusiastic, following up with how excited they are to work with the Polish studio again.
CD PROJEKT RED is one of the best game development studios in the world and it’s great to be working with the team again. Cyberpunk 2077 is a standout title and we are expecting great things from our continued collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED.
Whenever Cyberpunk 2077
is set to release, North American players can expect to see that famous WB.
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Cyberpunk 2077 achievements.
