The Thrice Damned Begins in Strange Brigade with Isle of the Dead

By Rebecca Smith,
Last month, players got the first part of the post-launch content developer Rebellion had promised for Strange Brigade. Today they've continued their plan to support the game by releasing the first part of their three-part campaign known as The Thrice Damned, as well as a new character and more maps.

Having heard rumours of an undead uprising, up to four players can join forces to head into uncharted waters where they'll find a pirate settlement in the Mediterranean. They'll need to rid the jungle and the beaches of a plague of skeletal foes. "The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead" has 5 new achievements to earn worth a total of 150 Gamerscore, none of which are secret.

As you may have seen in the trailer, a new hero has arrived too. Former stunt-pilot Tessie Caldwell can be found in the "American Aviatrix Character Expansion Pack". She comes with a pair of 1930s firearms — Hyde & Sons Compact pistol and the Colbeck Wildfire submachine gun — as well as the Glacier Bomb special item and an Infernal Firestorm amulet power.

High flying adventures have given Tessie a tougher constitution, and in the event of a sticky landing, her grenades charge quicker!

Primary: Colbeck Wildfire SMG

Secondary: Hyde & Sons Compact pistol

Item: Glacier Bomb

Infernal Firestorm: Harness the power of flame and unleash a furious firestorm forward to incinerate any unlucky undead in your path!

Tough Hide: Tessie's overall health is increased.

Fast Explosive Recharge: Special items reacharge faster than normal.

Coming from a family of poor sharecroppers, Tessie always dreamed of a more exciting life. She found it in flying. Joining a touring exhibition and becoming one of the first ever African-American female stunt pilots. Her derring-do and hunger for excitement caught the attention of Lady Webster. Travelling the world with th Strange Brigade now gives her all the adventure and excitement she could ever want.

Both "The Thrice Damned 1: Isle of the Dead" and the "American Aviatrix Character Expansion Pack" are part of the game's season pass, or they can be purchased separately. The former is priced at £5.59 or regional equivalent, while the latter can be found for £6.39 or regional equivalent.

Finally, the DLC was accompanied by a free game update for all players. As well as "various bug fixes, improvements, and more", the patch includes three maps based on levels found in the main game. Tunnels has been added for Horde Mode, while Cursed Village II and The Towering Temple II are now available in Score Attack.

More content is due to arrive at the end of the month, including the second part of The Thrice Damned, another character, and three more maps. In November, the final part of the story campaign will be released, as well as the final character and another trio of maps.
