Halloween Terror Returns to Overwatch

By Rebecca Smith, 2 months ago
The spookiest month of the year is a perfect excuse for a lot of games to run special events, and Overwatch: Origins Edition is no exception. Returning for a third year, the Halloween Terror 2018 event is now underway. Not only are there three new achievements to be earned, the event also gives the opportunity to earn the achievements from the previous 2016 and 2017 events if you haven't done so already. Players can also earn new skins alongside all of the items from the previous Halloween Terror events, and take part in the returning Junkenstein’s Revenge.

In Junkenstein’s Revenge, up to four players team up to battle the titular Junkenstein and his Monster, as well as a host of other scary enemies like the Summoner, the Reaper, and the Witch of the Wilds. The Endless Night mode adds an extra challenge by pitting players against continuous waves of enemies and bosses with the highest leaderboard spots going to those players who can survive the longest. Players can choose from ten heroes to take on the challenge, including the newly added Brigitte and Tracer.

As usual, there's a raft of event exclusive items you can get through the Halloween Loot Boxes. Items from previous Halloween events will be available for purchase "at a deep discount", but there will also be plenty of new emotes, highlights, avatars, sprays, voice lines, and skins, including:
  • Six new Legendary Skins — Banshee Moira, Bride Sombra, Enchanted Armor Pharah, Jack-O'-Lantern Wrecking Ball, Slasher: 76 Soldier: 76, and Swamp Monster Doomfist
  • Three new Epic Skins — Pumpkin Mei, Spider Widowmaker, and Undead McCree

The event also accompanies a new patch for the game. You can check out the full patch notes here if you're interested. The Halloween Terror 2018 event will run until October 31st, so make sure you get those achievements and all of the items you want before the end of the month.
