In a story that broke late yesterday, Bioware has announced that they've (once again) partnered with FUNimation Entertainment on an animated, Mass Effect movie which is currently in production. Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson is also attached to the film and will be consulting on it in some capacity. FUNimation is the same company responsible for the Dragon Age anime movie that's currently in the works and set for release later this year.
Hudson is excited to take the stories of the Mass Effect IP to another medium:
Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us. Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.
In other Mass Effect news, Game Informer announced yesterday that Mass Effect 3
is the featured cover story for their upcoming May 2011 issue.
The Mass Effect anime is currently set to be a direct-to-video release in the summer of 2012, Mass Effect 3
is due out this holiday and the May issue of Game Informer should be hitting shelves in the next week.
