Celebrate Halloween With Six Date Specific Achievements

By Rebecca Smith, 17 days ago
Believe it or not, Halloween is the most popular day of the year for date-specific achievements — it even beats Christmas. A massive five games make use of October 31st to get people to make progress towards or to unlock six achievements between them. If playing games seems like a much better idea than trick or treating, perhaps consider putting in one of the following titles.

Calendar Man

First, you'll want to head into Batman: Arkham City to pay another visit to Calendar Man. Calendar Man can be found in the basement of the Solomon Wayne Courthouse. You gain access to the Courthouse near the beginning of the game. If you visit him, he'll tell you a story and you can cross off another of those 12 murderous dates needed for the following achievement:

Batman: Arkham CityStorytellerThe Storyteller achievement in Batman: Arkham City worth 40 pointsHave 12 murderous dates with Calendar Man

Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360)StorytellerThe Storyteller achievement in Batman: Arkham City (Xbox 360) worth 28 pointsHave 12 murderous dates with Calendar Man

Batman: Arkham City (PC)StorytellerThe Storyteller achievement in Batman: Arkham City (PC) worth 38 pointsHave 12 murderous dates with Calendar Man

The next two achievements are from Halo: The Master Chief Collection. By entering Halo 3's Valhalla map in Forge mode, in a custom game or in multiplayer matchmaking, you can view a gravestone sigil and you can cross off one of the two different sigils needed for the following achievement:

Halo: The Master Chief CollectionElder SignsThe Elder Signs achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection worth 41 pointsHalo 3: View 2 different sigils on Valhalla.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN)Elder SignsThe Elder Signs achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN) worth 25 pointsHalo 3: View 2 different sigils on Valhalla.

If you then load up the Zanzibar map in Halo 2 in Forge mode, in a custom game or in multiplayer matchmaking, you can take a look at the sign on the beach for a special Halloween message. As you only need to view a single seasonal sign, you'll unlock the following achievement immediately:

Halo: The Master Chief CollectionDestination VacationThe Destination Vacation achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection worth 36 pointsHalo 2: View one of the seasonal signs on Zanzibar in classic multiplayer.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN)Destination VacationThe Destination Vacation achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection (CN) worth 24 pointsHalo 2: View one of the seasonal signs on Zanzibar in classic multiplayer.

Heart&Slash is the next title on the list. You need to start a game to unlock the following achievement. A bonus is you'll unlock the game's Heart-o-ween character too. When playing as this character, the levels are much darker and are only illuminated by a heart-shaped light from his Halloween pumpkin head.

Heart&SlashCREATURE OF THE NIGHT?The CREATURE OF THE NIGHT? achievement in Heart&Slash worth 78 pointsCREATURE OF THE NIGHT!

The next game is the least surprising of the bunch. All players need to do in Saw 2: Flesh & Blood is to press the Start button once they reach the game's main menu. Doing so will get the following achievement:

Saw 2: Flesh & BloodSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in Saw 2: Flesh & Blood worth 22 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

The final achievement is probably the most important of the lot, because it's the first opportunity since the game's release that players will get to unlock it. If players start up a game in It's Quiz Time, they'll finally be able to unlock the following achievement:

It's Quiz TimeI ain't afraid of no ghost! The I ain't afraid of no ghost! achievement in It's Quiz Time worth 60 pointsPlay on October 31st

There will be more opportunities throughout November to unlock date-specific achievements. We'll be sure to remind you about those nearer the time. You can either keep your eyes peeled to TA's front page for those articles, or subscribe to the Achievement Reminders news category to receive PMs or e-mails every time we remind you about those achievements.
