General Grievous Arrives in Star Wars Battlefront II

By Rebecca Smith, 18 days ago
While most people expect to see new titles at E3, Star Wars Battlefront II still managed to claim some stage space during EA's presentation to reveal Clone Wars era content would be making its way to the game. The first of those content updates arrived this week, bringing General Grievous as a Hero character. Other major changes include more opportunities to fly the N-1 Starfighter, Squad System improvements, and the introduction of Hero Health Star Cards.

October 30th update

General Grievous has three abilities: Thrust Surge, Claw Rush and Unrelenting Advance. Thrust Surge allows him to jump forwards towards an enemy while wielding four light sabres at once. Unrelenting Advance takes it a step further and again allows the player to equip four lightsabers at once, two spinning over his head as he approaches his enemy. Meanwhile, Claw Rush allows him to drop to the ground and quickly scuttle away from combat. He will be available to purchase for 35,000 credits — players won't be able to use crystals. He will also have an additional Rare "Battle Damaged" appearance that will cost 20,000 credits or 500 crystals.

In other changes, additional rules have been added to the Squad System since the team changed it to Trooper-on-Trooper spawning in October. The following rules now apply:

  • Troopers can spawn on Troopers
  • Troopers can spawn on Reinforcements
  • Troopers can spawn on Heroes (Exception being Boba Fett)
  • Reinforcements can spawn on Troopers
  • Reinforcements can spawn on Reinforcements
  • Reinforcements can spawn on Heroes (Exception being Boba Fett)
  • Heroes cannot spawn on anyone
October 30th update

Hero Star Cards that weren't used very often have been removed from the game. Instead, they've been replaced with Hero Health Star Cards. There are two types of Health Star Card. The first is a generic "Health on Defeat" card where the hero recoups a small amount of health when they defeat an enemy. This card is for Boba Fett, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Kylo Ren, and Darth Maul. The second type is a "Defeat with Ability" card where players recoup a small amount of health if they use a special ability when defeating an enemy. This card is for Chewbacca, Yoda, Finn, and Captain Phasma.

The final major change is the N1-Starfighter ship has been added to Hero Starfighters mode as a grunt ship.
