Try Rock Band Rivals for Free This Week

By Rebecca Smith, 2 months ago
Xbox Live Gold members are used to being able to try out select titles for free during weekends, but it isn't often that they get to try out DLC for free. Harmonix has decided to do just that and is allowing all Rock Band 4 players to try out the "Rock Band Rivals" expansion for free from today. Those who already own the expansion won't miss out, though, as they've also released a free DLC pack thanks to ReverbNation.

"Rock Band Rivals" includes 44 extra songs, the Rockudrama campaign mode, public and private online quickplay, and the titular Rivals mode where players can join together in a band and compete against others in a "competitive online multiplayer stats battle". During this week, there will also be a special challenge for players to complete — those who are successful will be rewarded with an exclusive Track Skin. "Rivals" is free to play from today until November 14th.

Harmonix also continues to release DLC every week, and this week's DLC is a free pack. "Discover: ReverbNation Pack 01" gave emerging bands a chance to get their music into the game. Out of the thousands of track submissions the developer received, these are the four tracks that made the cut:
  • Barely March - "Thinking Emoji"
  • PREACHERVAN - "Love That Hurts"
  • Ships Have Sailed - "Let's Just Dance"
  • tiLLie - "Save Yourself"

"Discover: ReverbNation Pack 01" is available to download for free right now. "Rock Band Rivals" is free to play until November 14th, although we're unsure whether players who don't own the expansion will be able to unlock any of its achievements during the freeplay period.

We've got the full list of Rock Band 4 achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
