Subnautica Gets Game Preview Exit Date and Physical Release

By Kelly Packard,
Subnautica developer Unknown Worlds has announced the underwater exploration title is exiting Xbox Game Preview after two and a half years in the program. There will also be a physical release.

Subnautica officially launched out of Steam Early Access in January 2018, but the Xbox version encountered hiccups. After Unknown Worlds said the Xbox version was "very, very close to launch" at the same time as the Steam version's launch in January 2018, the game remained unreleased in July, at which time Unknown Worlds hired a second development team in July to speed up development.

On Subnautica's Xbox launch date, players who already own the Game Preview version will receive a large update that will bring the game up to the 1.0 build. Unknown Worlds promises "a big increase in performance, smashed bugs, and new content."

The official release date for Subnautica is December 4th. For Europeans, the physical version will be available a few days later on December 7th.
