With the reveal of the achievement list just yesterday, fans of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game likely expected to jump into a match here soon. However, CD Projekt Red has a last-minute reveal for those who play on Windows 10. The UWP (Universal Windows Platform) will no longer be supported by the team. It will be removed from the Windows store, making it impossible to play through the program.

Gwent 2

Although this change may not affect the bulk of Xbox users, there are some key points of information that UWP users should be aware of:
  • With the Windows version removed, Gwent is no longer considered a Play Anywhere title
  • Due to the previous point, achievements can now only be earned on the Xbox One
  • Any progress from the UWP version will still be available on Xbox, as it's connected to your Microsoft account
If you still wish to play Gwent through PC, you'll need to transfer your data to to start where you left off. Transferring an account brings all of your previous progress to the new platform, from unopened card kegs to previously unlocked content. However, scraps will be given in place of your previous cards, as many of the pre-launch decks were replaced with better choices upon release.

You can learn how to set up the transfer through this link on the official site. Account transferring will be available until December 18th, but be aware that this process can take days to complete, so you are advised to sign up sooner rather than later. The UWP version of Gwent officially closed on December 3rd.
