2018's Easiest Achievement Lists - Earn 20,000 Gamerscore in 15 Hours

By Mark Delaney, 27 days ago
One of our most popular new features from this year has been the monthly easy achievement roundups (seriously, bookmark that page). On the first of every month, we look at the past four and a half weeks of new games and highlight which of them deserve the attention of achievement hunters looking for quick boosts to their gamerscore. For the holidays, we come bearing gifts for our community in the form of this special roundup which includes every new release from the past year that will give out 1,000 gamerscore in under one hour — some of them as quickly as 10 or 20 minutes!

It turns out there were precisely 20 such games according to our stats, and below you'll find them all on display, with commentary, pricing, and store links if you're feeling like doing some extra holiday shopping. Note that a lot of these games aren't the best in terms of quality, though a few are actually pretty good, and anyway we expect there's a number of readers here that will forgive the poor shape of these games since they're otherwise so appealing. Here is the complete collection of 2018 video games that will each give out 1,000 gamerscore in under one hour.

MechaNika

24/10/2018 - Carousel

Price: $5.99
A simple point and click which juxtaposes childlike innocence with dark humor, MechaNika will take just an hour or so, and probably won't break most banks either.

Storm Boy

Storm Boy

Price: $5.99
Here's the other one you can do in less time than it takes to watch an episode of a TV drama. It's based on a decades-old children's book too, which is an interesting route for a video game. It's a leisurely game with some basic adventure gameplay, so it can be considered an adequately casual title and something good for families. You could do much worse on this list.

Price: $9.99
You'll finish off the list in under an hour, but apparently you won't like that brief journey. It has just a 1.8 rating out of 5 from several dozen voters on site. Games like these really test one's desire for quick and easy gamerscore.

Midnight Deluxe

Midnight Deluxe

Price: $4.99
This one won our first Easy Game of the Month Award a few months back, because it's easier than most anything you'll play this year but its ratings aren't as bad as some others you'll see regularly in these features. You could do worse.

FullBlast

FullBlast

Price: $5.99
FullBlast is a shoot 'em up, which often means those that are playing for a quick and easy completion may not find it so easy or quick, but in this case it still is. We already have a guide up for the game and as it states clearly on page one, you hardly need to know the genre well to finish it off in about 30 minutes, and a newcomer to shmups will still finish in under an hour.

Sigi - A Fart for Melusina

Sigi - A Fart for Melusina

Price: $4.99
Here's one that we reviewed and warned you that it isn't so good as a fart-obsessed Super Mario clone. But if you can stand the smell of it all, it's another sub-one hour 1,000 G, so it's not all stinky, right?

Transference

Transference

Price: $24.99
Transference, as you may remember, is that weird live-action, Elijah Wood-Ubisoft vehicle that was on stage at E3 a few times. It finally came out and if you're not keen to play it in VR, you can round up more simple gamerscore from this one in less time than it takes to watch any Elijah Wood movie — though if you do that too, I recommend Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Jack N' Jill DX

Jack N' Jill DX

Price: $4.99
This year's easiest game goes to this black and white autorunning platformer. Beating the first level with just a single button press will net you 270 gamerscore, and the rest isn't going to be far behind. I completed this one myself already and I can attest to it being on a nearly Avatar level of simplicity. A few later levels may give you a brief obstacle, but we are talking the difference between ten and twenty minutes here.

Asemblance

Asemblance

Price: $7.99
Completion Time: 1 hour

Asemblance is a very strange game. Rather astoundingly, you can get the first 900 gamerscore in under 30 minutes, with the last achievement unlocking quickly as well, provided you can follow very specific instructions. We already have a great guide on site, however, so don't fear it.

Asemblance: Oversight

Asemblance: Oversight

Price: $9.99
Like its predecessor, this is a weird sci-fi walking sim that offers 1,000 G in under an hour, maybe under 30 minutes if you're really good. The puzzles are just as confusing as always, but that's what guides are for.

Haunted Halloween '86

Haunted Halloween '86

Price: $9.99
Haunted Halloween '86 is a true to the era old school platformer game and nearly everyone who has started it has already finished the list. It currently sits at over 90% completion percentage among our community, with a good sample size of over 1,500 players. If you're both nostalgic and achievement-driven, this is the one for you.

The Journey Down: Chapter One

31/05/2018 - Carousel

Price: $9.99
The Journey Down is a three-part point-and-click adventure game. Unlike other such games of late, each episode in this series can be bought separately though achievement hunters will still likely want them all. They each bestow a hefty 1,000 gamerscore to players. That's 3,000 gamerscore in about three hours. Not bad, right?

The Journey Down: Chapter Two

31/05/2018 - Carousel

Price: $19.99
If you liked what you saw in the first chapter, or maybe just liked the gamerscore at the end, welcome back to another breezy run-through for 1,000 gamerscore.

The Journey Down: Chapter Three

31/05/2018 - Carousel

Price: $19.99
If you didn't buy into the full trilogy as a package deal, July brought with it the finale to this adventure series. Like with its predecessors, you can get the full 1,000 gamerscore in under an hour. It's all a bit brief, but for what it's worth, players have been enjoying the series too.

Super Destronaut DX

Super Destronaut DX

Price: $4.99
Remember InkSplosion? Consider this its spiritual successor from the same team. And the spirit to which we refer is that of cranking out easy gamerscore games to make easy money. My friend and colleague Kevin always says there's an obvious market for those willing to do this sort of thing, and our site numbers seem to back this up. Just ask the folks behind Energy Cycle.

Conan Exiles

Conan

Price: $49.99
An MMO isn't usually good for a fast 1,000 gamerscore, but if you use the in-game admin panel, this otherwise hefty list spits out at you in under 60 minutes.

InkSplosion

InkSplosion

Price: $4.99
Another simple shmup that won't take you more than 30 minutes, InkSplosion is as brief as it is colorful, and about as easy too.

NORTH

Image 1

Price: $4.99
NORTH is a weird and experimental game that allegorically discusses the issue of refugee crises. It's told through some pretty dated looking visuals but is strangely also enhanced for Xbox One X. It's not all bad though, as our review pointed out.

One Eyed Kutkh

Carousel

Price: $4.99
Combined with NORTH, this one makes back to back Sometimes You published games on this list. They'll appear on easy gamerscore lists almost exactly the same number of times they release a game to the Xbox store. For whatever reason (money), their games always have easy achievement lists.

The Station

10/01/18 - Screens

Price: $14.99
Without a guide you're likely to get nearly all of the game's 11 achievements pretty effortlessly in an hour. There's a chance to get them all that way, really, but if you don't want to risk it, there are already several guides on site including full 20-minute walkthroughs of the completion. It's a decent adventure game too, cut from the walking sim cloth wherein players unravel a mystery using environmental clues a la Gone Home.
