Red Dead Redemption 2 has kept the top spot going into the new year. Like the week before, the gap between it and second place title Fortnite is decreasing and there isn't a lot between them now. In terms of the top 20 titles, there's very little movement at all, the exception being NBA 2K19 that climbs nine spots into #20, possibly because of the Winter Madness event that's been running over the holiday period.

Elsewhere, we see dramatic climbs from Spyro Reignited Trilogy (up nine spots to #21) and Madden NFL 19 (up 16 spots to #23), while SMITE and ARK: Survival Evolved have both come back into the chart at #33 and #35 respectively. The remaining new entries are also older titles that haven't been in the top 40 since we started the chart: HITMAN 2 is in #38, Far Cry 5 is in #39, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in #40.

We only had a couple of titles that moved significantly downwards, and both are quick completions from which players have likely moved on. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice dropped 13 places to #29, while Never Alone drops 16 spots to #37. Meanwhile, Ashen plummets enough to drop out of the charts completely.

Tomorrow we should get a new Game With Gold in the form of Celeste, although it seems to be available a day earlier than planned. Meanwhile, Microsoft is keeping their cards close to their chest in terms of new titles in Game Pass. Will we see any new entries from those next week? Don't forget to tune in to see what next week brings, and in the meantime, you can subscribe to get alerts for all future Xbox Gameplay Charts here.
