Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Patch Introduces A Zombie Gauntlet

By CognitiveCaveat, 1 month ago
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been something of a mystery to some, with the exclusive focus on multiplayer and a single player campaign missing. But that hasn't stopped nearly 70,000 people on TA who have played the game so far. On reddit, Treyarch announced a zombie celebration event and a preview of the 1.11 (and later the 1.12) update.

Zombies 115 day

Zombie Day, Elixir Balancing, and More

January 15th is 115 day, so what better way to celebrate than with Zombies 2XP, Zombies 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Nebulium Plasma starting 10AM PT on Jan. 15 through Jan. 18, on all platforms. Coming with this is the debut of Gauntlets. There are some new Laboratory Concoctions coming over the new few weeks, as well as additional bundles for the Nebulium Plasma.
Look out for news coming on Tuesday about upcoming features over the next few months. This includes the 1.12 update coming in late January.

Gauntlets

So what are Gauntlets? They are 30-round challenges with unique rules for each round, starting with the first Gauntlet “Unsinkable” in Voyage of Despair. Players can receive Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals as well as special tier-based rewards upon completion of rounds 10, 20, and 30. If you complete round 30 without failing a round, you 'll get a unique reward. You can also get bonus Nebulium Plasma rewards when you reach a new milestone for the first time. Each round will differ in terms of rules, featuring weapon or time restrictions, area defense challenges with enemy modifiers, and a multitude of other options. If you and your crew fail a round, you'll earn a Strike. Three Strikes and you have to start back at round 1 again. Because they are infinitely replayable, the rules for all 30 rounds will be permanent and timed, so expect to see some impressive speed runs. There will be many Gauntlets to come this year, all with their new challenges.

Blackout: Improved Looting Interface on Consoles, New Limited-Time Modes

The upcoming update also brings a new looting interface. You can scroll through a multi-row grid, loot the items you want, and get back into the match. It also fixes some interface problems that have occurred in the past for console players. Two new limited-time modes are also coming to Blackout, though we don't have many details yet.

Multiplayer: Black Ops Pass Maps in Full Rotation, Featured Playlist Updates, Setting the Stage for League Play

With the 1.11 update, Elevation and Madagascar will be in full rotation for Black Ops Pass holders, including Hardcore playlists. New MP maps are expected in full rotation in the future. There will be a fresh patch of Featured Playlists with 1.11, along with the normal stability and quality improvements in the next. We've been promised patch notes next week. Also coming in the update is League Play, which was announced on January 8th, expected to launch at the end of January. You can read about it here. The CWL Pro League Qualifiers are scheduled on January 16-20 as 28 teams complete for spots in the Black Ops 4 Pro League. Watch it on Twitch.

Expect more details on January 15th, the Zombie Celebration.
