EA "Fully Committed" To Making More Star Wars Games

Publisher Electronic Arts is still "fully committed" to making more Star Wars games, despite previous microtransaction PR disasters and collapsed projects. The statement follows a report that the retooled ex-Visceral Star Wars project has now been completely canned.

Speaking to Variety, EA didn't explicitly confirm the rumours that "Project Orca" is dead but did confirm that its overseeing studio in Vancouver would "evolve into future Star Wars content and games." The below quote doesn't quite confirm the rumour that a smaller Star Wars title will be released in 2020, but it certainly leans in that direction:

"We’re fully committed to making more Star Wars games, we’re very excited about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn, and we’ll share more about our new projects when the time is right."
Given the cancelled projects and abysmal PR record for such an important franchise, it's surprising that Disney are still happy to honour the original deal struck with EA to develop future Star Wars content. Here's hoping that Respawn's title gets the love and care it deserves, though given how EA handled Titanfall 2 we're not going to bank on it.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order achievements.
