Players who watched last night's Inside Xbox broadcast on Mixer will eventually be receiving a Mixpot with some free goodies, including a Sea of Thieves Onyx Compass. There's little point in having that compass if you don't own the game, though, so Microsoft is allowing all Sea of Thieves players to bring along three friends to try out the game for free this week.
Starting from 2PM GMT today, all players who have purchased the game, or who have played it through Xbox Game Pass, will be able to grab three friend codes from this website to invite their friends into the game on Xbox One or Windows 10. The codes allow friends to join in the fun and plunder the seas for free until February 13th. If those friends decide they like the game and want to buy it after, anybody who used a Friends Play Free code will be able to buy the game at a 35% discount until February 27th.
During the promotional period, all players will be able to take on a limited time Mercenary Voyage. Duke will be sending you on a mission to locate Rum Runner's treasure and those who complete their mission will "be handsomely rewarded". Special Mercenary cosmetics will be available for purchase throughout the period too.
Finally, Rare promises they'll be sharing big news for the game on March 20th, its first anniversary, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled on TA for that news as we get it.
