It's been an impressive few days for the team at Respawn. This time last week none of us had even heard of Apex Legends, the new free-to-play battle royale that is set in the Titanfall universe. Yet since its surprise release on Monday it's been dominating the headlines and topping the Twitch viewer charts.
On Tuesday, Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella revealed that the game had hit one million unique players in under eight hours, and now the team are celebrating their next big milestone. Yesterday Vince revealed that over 10 million players have jumped into Apex Legends in the first 72 hours, and they have already breached one million concurrent players.
This has been a truly incredible journey. We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too.Is Apex Legends' success a passing trend? Or do you think the game will go on to achieve sustained success like Fortnite and PUBG?
We hoped you’d love it as much as us, but never in our wildest dreams could we have expected the outpouring of support and positivity we’ve seen. From all of us at Respawn, thank you for giving us and Apex Legends a chance. Thank you for joining us on this journey. This is just the beginning! We have so much more in store for you this year.
We've got the full list of Apex Legends achievements - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
