Scalebound Reportedly Lives Again, but Only as a Switch Exclusive

By Rebecca Smith, 1 month ago
Two years ago, Microsoft made the shock decision to cancel Scalebound, the Xbox One exclusive that featured a Drew and his dragon, Thuban, as they took on those looking to disrupt the alliance between Draconis, Earth, and parallel worlds. In development at Platinum Games, rumours abound that relations between Platinum and Microsoft had reached breaking point, although the actual reason for the cancellation was never confirmed. Well, the rumour mill is heading back into overdrive again as Nintendo Insider's sources have stated the game is back in production. Unfortunately, this time it's an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch.

The rumours have been given more credence by Game Informer senior editor Imran Khan, who told Kinda Funny Games last week that there's a "game that’s thought to be dead that Nintendo’s reviving". Not all are quite so believing, though. Kotaku's News Editor Jason Schreier instead believes that "Platinum re-used a lot of Scalebound's design and tech for Astral Chain, and people are just getting their wires crossed".

Whatever the truth turns out to be, it seems like Xbox players will never get their hands on what was once one of Microsoft's flagship exclusive titles.
