Over the weekend, Amazon placeholder pages appeared for a new product from Fallout and Elder Scrolls developer and publisher Bethesda. The now-delisted pages showed standard, deluxe and collector's edition for a title coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC — somewhat of an oddity in itself given the publisher's recent enthusiasm for the Nintendo Switch. If that was it, speculation would run wild as to what it could be with Bethesda owning a variety of studios and IPs. However a countdown video that accompanied the listing does hint at it perhaps being something Fallout-related as it is similar in style of the 1950s-inspired aesthetic that the series is known for.
Despite the disappointment and controversy that has surrounded Fallout 76, it's extremely unlikely that Bethesda would be ready (and willing) to move on to a new fully-fledged Fallout title so soon, especially with the company showing how they intend to support the multiplayer title over the coming months. A remastered version of much-loved Fallout 3 and/or Fallout: New Vegas would certainly win some support but in that case it seems odd that Bethesda of all publishers would avoid releasing them on the Switch. Or could it be that we're off the mark and it's for a still-to-be-announced title from one of Bethesda's other developers like Arkane, Tango Gameworks or MachineGames? Hopefully we find out sooner or later but until then feel free to sound off with your own speculation below.
