For those who are eager to get their hands on Obsidian's upcoming action-RPG, The Outer Worlds, you might not need to wait much longer. Recently, the Steam page for the upcoming title updated with a new release date, and it was set for August 6th of 2019. Though the date has since been removed, the edit history still remains on SteamDB for all to see. It might not be too soon, but it's certainly promising news for those who are eager to see the charming space-western come to life.
What have we learned about The Outer Worlds since its announcement during The Game Awards? Quite a bit, actually. We know it's roughly 30 to 40 hours long and built on a semi-open world. Players take on the role of a unvoiced, cryo-frozen protagonist that awakens in the colony of Halcyon. Though there's plenty of companions with unique appearances and varied personalities, romance will not be a part of the game. That being said, both dialogue and choices will still play a large role in character-building and experiencing the world—or worlds—around you.
Obsidian has yet to comment on the Steam slip up, and the original 2019 release window has since replaced it. Still, it's not too far-fetched to think that The Outer Worlds might release in August. A summer launch date certainly has its advantages as well. But for now, we can only hope.
We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the The Outer Worlds achievements.
