The Sinking City Gameplay Won't Hold Your Hand

By Rebecca Smith, 25 days ago
The Sinking City is an adventure title that tells an unconventional tale. Players assume the role of private investigator Charles W. Reed as he investigates supernatural goings on in the flooded town of Oakmont, Massachusetts during the 1920s. The latest video shows off some detective gameplay as players must use their own oberservations and intuition to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Players will need to explore scenes, collect evidence, gather information, and interview suspects to help further their investigation. Some mysteries are simple to solve, while others need some of Reed's more unique skills, such as the Retrocognition ability we got to try out last year. All clues can be put together in Reed's Mind Palace, where players can come up with their own deductions. However, the game won't tell players whether they've got it right, and their decisions will have a direct impact on how the story plays out.

The Sinking City was originally due to be released later this month, but now appears to have been delayed to a release window later this year, so you'll have to wait a bit longer to try out your detective skills.

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the The Sinking City achievements.
