Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince Officially Announced By Frozenbyte

By Andy Mills, 18 days ago
Back at the end of October last year developer Frozenbyte revealed Trine 4. But all we got was that name and the promise of an official announcement in the near future. A few months on and the Finnish studio are now ready to reveal more. Published with the help of Modus Games — who have helped to bring us the likes of Override: Mech City Brawl and Degrees of Separation in recent months — Trine 4 will bring heroes Amadeus, Zoya and Pontius back together in an effort to save one Prince Selius, whose nightmares are having a disastrous effect on the world. As ever players will have to use the three heroes together in up to four player co-op (don't think about it) to solve a variety of puzzles across some rather beautiful 2.5D landscapes. You can see some of this in action in the game's official announcement trailer, which you can check out below.

In addition, as those who watched the trailer will know, a package containing the previous games will also be released later this year. Trine: The Ultimate Collection will have Trine: Enchanted Edition, Trine 2: Complete Story and Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power as well as coming with the new Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. Particularly handy for those on Xbox consoles who only have the ability to play Trine 2 on Xbox 360 at the moment.

Both Trine 4 and Trine: The Ultimate Collection are currently scheduled to release both physically and digitally this autumn. Those who buy The Ultimate Collection at retail will receive not only all four games but also a soundtrack for the series, a digital art book for Trine 4, a reversible cover sheet and a physical map with those who buy the retail edition of Trine 4 on its own receiving that same physical map. Not only that but those who pre-order either at select retailers will also receive a Trine 4 cloth poster and bonus in-game content. Will you be trying out Trine this fall?

We don't have them yet, but we'll publish a story as soon as we pick up the Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince achievements.
