The Elder Scrolls Online Season of the Dragon Begins with Wrathstone

The Season of the Dragon has begun in The Elder Scrolls Online with the arrival of the "Wrathstone" DLC and Update 21. While "Wrathstone" is only available for ESO Plus members or for purchase in the Crown Store, Update 21 brings along a new battleground, updated PvP rewards, a Guild Trader update, and the Zone Guide for all players.

"Wrathstone" includes two new dungeons, each of which contains one half of the Wrathstone Tablet that players must find. Players team up with Tharayya, a Redguard treasure hunter, to take on a Goblin tribe, Dwarven automatons, and a variety of traps in their search for the first part of the tablet in Frostvault, a dungeon hidden in the glacial rifts of the mountains of Eastmarch. Players then venture into the Depths of Malatar, a dungeon located in the sunken Ayleid city of Garlas Malatar. Here, Daedric guardians protect the secret of the Imperial cohort that discovered the dungeon centuries ago.

Both dungeons are available in Normal and Veteran difficulties, and there's also a Veteran Hard Mode option. Not only will players get the tablet if they complete both dungeons, they'll be able to earn armour sets, Monster Masks, and other collectibles too. Just entering one of the dungeons will gift players the Ayleid Royal Crown hat.

Meanwhile Update 21adds the new Battlegrounds map Eld Angvar. Players take on each other in a "mysterious Ayleid world between worlds" that players may recognise from the Murkmire questline. Players spawn in the centre of the map and use portals to get into the fight quickly. There are two variants of the map so that it's best suited to the game mode players are taking on, one variant for Capture the Relic, Domination, and Chaosball, and the other for Crazy King and Deathmatch.

Update 21

Players who compete in Alliance War and Battlegrounds can look forward to new PvP rewards. There's the Elinhir Arena Lion pet that is earned by combining 40 Arena Gladiator’s Proofs with the Arena Gladiator’s Roar. Battlegrounds matches will reward Weapon Outfit Styles for Pit Demon in Deathmatch, Storm Lord in Flag games, and Fire Drake in Land Grab.

An update to the Guild Trader user interface means categories have been revamped and players can now search for specific items without having to move through a variety of menus. There's also the Zone Guide that will track player progress in every zone, including completed story quests, Wayshrines that have been unlocked, Points of Interest, and more. There will also be quest markers. For more information on both of these features, you can check out the more detailed blog here.

"Wrathstone" and Update 21 are both available now. "Wrathstone" is free for ESO Plus players, or it can be purchased for 1,500 crowns at the Crown Store. Alternatively, the "Wrathstone Collector’s Bundle" is available for 4,000 crowns and includes the DLC, the Treasure Hunter’s Horse mount, the Carnelian Theodolite pet, and five Crown Experience Scrolls.
