Rockstar confirmed to Kotaku today that their upcoming crime epic, L.A. Noire
, is going to fill three discs in the 360 version of the game.
Rockstar's Jeronimo Barrera told Kotaku's Stephen Totilo:
L.A. Noire was always going to be a massive game, from the size and detail of the world to the length of the cases, and of course, the sheer amount of MotionScan data required for the faces of over 400 actors in-game.
Before the gaming masses begin the wailing and gnashing of teeth, lamenting the agonizingly hard walk to the console to swap out discs... along with the flashbacks to the horrible, torturous experience that was switching discs in Mass Effect 2
, Barrera wants to talk you down from the ledge and immediate boycott:
Since the game is built around the concept of progressing through individual cases from desk to desk, players on Xbox will find disc-swapping is hassle-free. In fact, players will only need to swap discs twice at natural breaks between cases without interrupting the flow of the game.
So there you have it... three discs... two agonizing walks to your console... and one amazing game.
The May 17th North American release for L.A. Noire
can't come fast enough... and my heart goes out to Australian and European gamers who have to wait three extra days to the May 20th.
