Yesterday, somebody at Rebellion got a bit keen and accidentally revealed a new trailer for Sniper Elite V2 Remastered. The trailer disappeared just as quickly as it had appeared, but it gave us some idea that developer Rebellion was planning an announcement for today. That announcement has indeed appeared, but the studio didn't just stick with revealing one title — there's a new title in the franchise too.
Sniper Elite V2 took players to Berlin at the end of World War II. As the Red Army invaded Germany, players assumed the role of Karl Fairburne, an officer from the American Office of Strategic Services, who was tasked with capturing or eliminating all scientists who were involved in the German V-2 rocket programme. Now players will be able to relive the adventure on Xbox One with enhanced graphics, and 4K and HDR compatibility for Xbox One X players. The game will include all of the content ever released previously, and will be getting expanded multiplayer that will now support up to 16 players. There will also be new content in the form of new playable characters and a new photo mode.
There was also a brand new title announced for the Sniper Elite franchise. Details on this next major title were scarce, although Rebellion stated it would be following in the footsteps of Sniper Elite 4. More details have been promised for 2020, so don't expect it to be released anytime soon. You will see Sniper Elite V2 Remastered a lot sooner, though — the game is due to be released digitally and at retail later this year.
